The documentary film tour heads to the Cape with a screening in Chatham
Reuse edutainer Alex Eaves and tiny house expert Derek Diedricksen screen their new documentary, The Box Truck Film: Building A Reuseful Home September 3, 2022

Brewster, MA (August 16, 2022) – Alex Eaves, a reuse edutainer, and Derek Diedricksen, a tiny house expert are releasing a new documentary, The Box Truck Film: Building a Reuseful Home. This summer and fall, they’ll be doing a series of screenings and promotional events for the film. They stop in Chatham on September 3rd for a screening at Chatham Orpheum Theater at 10:00 AM. This kicks off the sixth season of the Sustainable Practices Film Series.

The documentary focuses on the transformation of a 17-foot moving truck into a 98-square foot tiny house and mobile reuse education center. Using almost nothing but reused, repurposed, and dumpster-dived materials, the duo’s “triumph over junk” showcases the endless benefits of the reuse lifestyle, which are implemented in very creative (and even comical) ways. The film features experts in environmentalism and tiny houses, including Madhavi Venkatesan, the founder of Sustainable Practices.

Eaves is a reuse expert and has been leading a passionate “reuse life” since 2008; finding reuse solutions for his needs and wants. He is the owner of the green-certified reuse apparel brand, STAY VOCAL, and the director of the award-winning documentary, REUSE! Because You Can't Recycle The Planet. Since 2009, Eaves has given talks on reuse around the U.S. and was even certified as a Master Reuser by the Reuse Institute.

Diedricksen is a professional tree house and tiny house builder. He has hosted and designed for numerous TV shows for The DIY Network, The History Channel, Make TV, and was the recent host for HGTV's "Tiny House Builders.” Deek has taught hands-on building workshops worldwide since 2010 and runs the YouTube design channel RelaxshacksDOTcom. He is the author of four books including the bestseller "Microshelters". Deek is a longtime Stoughton, MA resident and won the 2016 Stoughton Citizen of the Year award for his work with several abandoned storefront reuse art projects.

Sustainable Practices will proudly host the Cape Cod theatrical premiere of The Box Truck Film on August 20th at 10:00 am. The 72-minute film will be followed by a Q&A discussion with Diedricksen and Eaves. Tickets are $15 and are available online at the Chatham Orpheum website.

After the film, the tiny house will be open to the public for tours from 12 - 3 PM. There will also be a gallery of Eaves’ reuse apparel, Diedricksen’s reclaimed art, and information from various organizations.
